Dwie kompozycje Philippe'a Gauberta- "Utwór romantyczny" i 3- częściowe "Akwarele" przeniosły słuchaczy w bogaty świat doznań estetycznych- tych delikatnych i tych bardziej burzliwych.

Mélomane

“Anna Mikulska jest wiolonczelistką świadomą stylistyki, dbająca o kształt i barwę dzwięku, o precyzję wykonania. Philipp Argenty reprezentuje wysoki poziom pianistyczny - technikę, muzykalność, bogactwo i rozległość dynamiki. Wszystkie te walory słuchacze nagrodzili burzliwymi brawami. »

Duo Fortecello : Mikulska and Argenty thrill the
Emscherquellhof.

Holzwickede. "A French Evening with Chopin" took place last Sunday afternoon at the
Emscherquellhof. The Duo Fortecello was the guest of the Celloherbst.

The French evening ended with a standing ovation at the Emscherquellhof in Holzwickede ! The Duo
Fortecello, consisting of cellist Anna Mikulska and her husband Philippe Argenty on the piano,
deserved it. All the composers presented in this programme had one thing in common : they had all
studied in Paris or had lived there for some time.
Like the Spaniard Joaquin Nin, whose "Suite espariola" introduced the concert. The Duo Fortecello
portrayed four Spanish landscapes: the ancient Castile with soft, hushed cello sounds, the wild
virtuosity of Murcia, the warmth and melody of Asturias and finally the passionate Andalusia with
rhythmic flamenco and loud piano.
Fryderyk Chopin's Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 65, was the highlight of the evening. As
Anna Mikulska explained, it is nothing less than a portrait of the Franco-Polish composer. There is a
colourful Allegro with its pianistic virtuosity and elegant cello playing, a Scherzo lush with fiery chords
from the piano, the delicate dialogue between cello and piano in the Largo and, finally, the lively
movement, between roaring sounds and wonderfully tender reflections, sounds like a definition of
the music of the Romantic era.
Mikulska and Argenty's driving performance made it an amazing experience.
This continued unabated after the interval with Bohuslav Martinu's 'Variations on a Slovakian
Theme'. In five different-sounding variations, the theme takes us into an irresistible musical
whirlwind. Whether it is the powerful sforzati, the touching passages or the lyrical measures, the Duo
Fortecello has risen to the challenge with flying colours!
Piazzolla was not to be outdone, having travelled to Paris during his lifetime. Born of a love for a
woman, his Triptych of the Angel is passionate in the Milonga, in contrast to the wild exuberance of
the Muerte with its violent accents and delicate pauses. Finally we discover the Resureccion with a
melodious cello and a virtuoso piano part.
Next, Camille Saint-Satin's Danse Macabre op. 40 turned out to be a delightful parody of a wild
dance. A furious danse macabre, which Mikulska/Argenty 'danced' with ravishing presence. And it
was only as an encore that Piazzolla's Libertango completed this excess of virtuosity! A bravura
championship at the highest level!
